º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ University is seeking a part-time HR & Payroll Assistant responsible for data entry of benefit and payroll information, assisting with risk management meetings, worker’s compensation reporting, and related safety/security reports, as well as creating and presenting trainings for various employee groups. 

This position is scheduled to work 20 hours per week assisting with Payroll and HR related projects. The successful candidate will interact closely with individual faculty and staff. The preferred schedule will be 4 hours shifts from 8:00am to 12:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with background checking, eVerify process, I-9 Forms and documentation accuracy.
  • Assist with new hire data entry into Payroll, Wellness and Retirement Systems and complete orientation actions.
  • Process and ensure accuracy of data change requests for payroll.
  • Assist with recruiting strategies and efforts, including: writing and preparing job advertisements, posting on job boards, tracking recruitment efforts with campus search committees, and maintaining the university web site career page.
  • Assist in creating, reviewing and maintaining job descriptions.
  • Assist with administration of various human resources plans and procedures; assists in development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepare and maintain employee handbook, policies, and procedures manual.
  • Develop and deliver training to groups of faculty and staff.
  • Lead new hire orientation sessions and help new employees complete payroll paperwork.
  • Assist with FMLA and Worker’s Compensation administration for employees and complete required reports including FMLA reports, notification letters, OSHA 300 logs, and other federal compliance reporting as required.
  • Assist in maintaining employee files with filing.
  • Perform system and file audits ensuring data accuracy and compliance.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees’ HR and Payroll inquiries.
  • Perform other duties to support HR and Payroll needs as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree in HR Management, Business, Payroll or related field. Related experience may be substituted for degree.
  • One to three years’ experience and working knowledge in HR or Payroll.
  • Demonstrated experience showing strong skills in interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Adaptable and eager to work collaboratively to achieve department goals.
  • Able to work independently, prioritize multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to interact effectively with a variety of people within the campus community.
  • Must be computer proficient, with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications including Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, One Note and SharePoint.
  • Must be able to maintain and be responsible for confidential information and ongoing record-keeping.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail, proofread and ensure accuracy of data and reports.
  • Must have high initiative, confidence, integrity, strong work ethic, analytical skills and desire to consistently improve internal processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with FMLA, Worker’s Compensation, ACA, ADAAA, benefit administration, OSHA, Risk Management, Payroll and Compensation rules and practices, background check administration, E-Verify and I-9 documentation.
  • Active PHR or SHRM-CP certification.  
  • Ellucian Colleague or HRIS experience.
