Pre-professional Law Program

º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ University provides a solid foundation for success in law school and beyond. Because the legal profession encompasses a wide range of fields, º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ graduates from at least 19 different majors have been accepted into law schools across the nation over the last five years.

Through rigorous coursework, experiential learning opportunities and engaging seminars you will gain critical thinking, research, writing and communication skills that are invaluable in the legal profession.

Many pre-law students gain experience in Washington D.C. thru the Capital Hill Internship Program.

Find life-changing experiences.

In a class specially designed for incoming students—Exploring Legal Careers—you can gain insight into the law school application process and interact with current law students, lawyers, judges and public servants. Courses such as Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Business Law and more help students become more familiar with the law process.

Our students travel all over the world studying abroad, completing internships and earning prestigious scholarships. Many pre-law students take advantage of the Capitol Hill Internship Program (CHIP), with recent placements in the Department of Justice, the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia and various members of Congress.

Students have the added benefit of being located in the state capital, which allows them to work in the Unicameral and intern at local law firms.

Develop an application that stands out.

Our pre-law program provides robust support to help you develop a strategic approach to law school applications. You will join a supportive community of students, professors and staff who share your goals.

The student-run Pre-Law Club fosters community among students from across the university and regularly sponsors speakers and sessions to study for the law school admissions test.

Our class sizes allow you to form genuine connections with faculty members, who can become valuable mentors and provide strong letters of recommendation. The Student Collaborative Grant program allows you to conduct research with a faculty member leading to presentations at regional and national conferences.

Other opportunities on campus include student government or serving on a fraternity or sorority leadership team.
